What can I serve with Cherry Tart?

I like to serve this with a generous serving of homemade whipped cream and some grated chocolate. This Cherry Tart is also delicious with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Tips for Making Cherry Tart

  • Leave the cream cheese out on the counter to bring to room temperature.
  • If you use fresh cherries, I recommend using a cherry pitter to easily remove the stone from the fruit. The cherry will stay whole, which is ideal for a tart recipe.
  • Thaw and drain the cherries first to remove any excess liquid.

Notes

I know you’ll love this Cherry Tart just as much as my family! But, be sure to keep a few things in mind:

  • Allow Cherry Tart to cool for at least 4-6 hours (or preferably overnight) to help the filling set. If you cut into it earlier, the filling may also not hold up. The longer the tart rests, the easier it is to serve.
  • Place the rack in the middle of the oven before baking.
  • If you are short on time, you can make a Cherry Tart with a store-bought crust instead of homemade. It will still be delicious.

Substitutions

  • Cherries: apricots, peaches, nectarines, and plums can replace cherries in this tart recipe
  • Berries: blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries work very well in this recipe
  • You can use flour instead of starch in Step 3

Ingredients

For the Dough:

  • 1 stick butter - soft
  • 3 oz Powdered sugar
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 1/2 Flour
  • 1/2 tsp Salt

Filling:

  • 16oz Frozen cherries
  • 2 tbsp Starch - 2 tbsp
  • 8 oz Cream cheese
  • Sugar - 3 ounces
  • Powdered sugar – 1 tbsp

Instructions

  1. Make the dough. Put the soft butter in a bowl and add powdered sugar. Beat with a mixer until incorporated. Add egg, flour, and salt. Mix ingredients well. The dough should be soft.
  2. Cover with plastic wrap, and put it in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
  3. For the filling: put all the cherries in a saucepan and pour sugar. Put on medium heat and constantly stir until the sugar melts completely. Separately, mix a little water with starch and add to the cherries. Leave the filling to cool.
  4. Put the cream cheese in a large bowl and mix it with powdered sugar.
  5. Divide the dough into two parts. Roll them out with a rolling pin. Place one part into a pie crust. Poke the bottom of the crust with a fork numerous times to alleviate air bubbles in the crust.
  6. Evenly spread cream cheese mixture onto the pie shell base.
  7. Next, place the cherry filling. Cut the hearts from the remaining dough and put them on the cherry filling.
  8. Bake the pie in a preheated 320°F degree oven for 40-45 minutes. Cool completely.
