Make the dough. Put the soft butter in a bowl and add powdered sugar. Beat with a mixer until incorporated. Add egg, flour, and salt. Mix ingredients well. The dough should be soft.
Cover with plastic wrap, and put it in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
For the filling: put all the cherries in a saucepan and pour sugar. Put on medium heat and constantly stir until the sugar melts completely. Separately, mix a little water with starch and add to the cherries. Leave the filling to cool.
Put the cream cheese in a large bowl and mix it with powdered sugar.
Divide the dough into two parts. Roll them out with a rolling pin. Place one part into a pie crust. Poke the bottom of the crust with a fork numerous times to alleviate air bubbles in the crust.
Evenly spread cream cheese mixture onto the pie shell base.
Next, place the cherry filling. Cut the hearts from the remaining dough and put them on the cherry filling.
Bake the pie in a preheated 320°F degree oven for 40-45 minutes. Cool completely.
