Ingredients

For the Dough:

  • 1 stick butter - soft
  • 3 oz Powdered sugar
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 1/2 Flour
  • 1/2 tsp Salt

Filling:

  • 16 oz Frozen cherries
  • 2 tbsp Starch - 2 tbsp
  • 8 oz Cream cheese
  • Sugar - 3 ounces
  • Powdered sugar – 1 tbsp

Instructions

  • Make the dough. Put the soft butter in a bowl and add powdered sugar. Beat with a mixer until incorporated. Add egg, flour, and salt. Mix ingredients well. The dough should be soft.
  • Cover with plastic wrap, and put it in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
  • For the filling: put all the cherries in a saucepan and pour sugar. Put on medium heat and constantly stir until the sugar melts completely. Separately, mix a little water with starch and add to the cherries. Leave the filling to cool.
  • Put the cream cheese in a large bowl and mix it with powdered sugar.
  • Divide the dough into two parts. Roll them out with a rolling pin. Place one part into a pie crust. Poke the bottom of the crust with a fork numerous times to alleviate air bubbles in the crust.
  • Evenly spread cream cheese mixture onto the pie shell base.
  • Next, place the cherry filling. Cut the hearts from the remaining dough and put them on the cherry filling.
  • Bake the pie in a preheated 320°F degree oven for 40-45 minutes. Cool completely.
