This recipe calls for a few simple ingredients and seasonings you probably have in your kitchen already. So if you think making your own broth is too difficult, think again! It’s really simple, it can be refrigerated or frozen to use later, or, you can sip on some for lunch!

What is Chicken Broth?

Chicken Broth is a liquid that results from cooking the bones and leftover meat of a chicken carcass in water. It’s cooked alongside vegetables and seasonings to create a flavorful base for soups and other recipes. This recipe is made in the Instant Pot so it’s quick and simple, and makes clean up a breeze.

How Do I Store Instant Pot Chicken Broth?

Can I Freeze Instant Pot Chicken Broth?

This is a great recipe to make and freeze for future recipes! Allow the broth to cool fully before storing it in the freezer. You can freeze it in ice cube trays, plastic freezer bags, or freezer-safe containers for up to three months.

Can Chicken Broth Sit Out Overnight?

This Instant Pot Chicken Broth shouldn’t sit overnight as it is made with a chicken carcass and needs to be refrigerated. For this reason, I recommend removing the inner pot from the Instant Pot to allow it to cool faster, as the inside of the Instant Pot will retain heat.

  • Drink it! Chicken broth is delicious as-is, and is especially good for you after you’ve been sick.

  • Use it in any recipe that calls for broth.
  • Add it to pasta water for extra flavor.

Can I Pour Broth Down the Drain?

Yes, you can, but you have to keep in mind that broth contains fat which can congeal in your drain and pipes. Instead of just pouring it down, start by running your hot water for about 15 seconds. Add the broth to the running water slowly. After you’ve poured out all the broth, leave the water running for another 15 seconds to make sure all of the broth clears the pipes.
