🌟 WHY I LOVE SNOW CONE OREO TRUFFLES
These snow cone Oreo truffles require no banking time or technical skills in the kitchen. In fact, they’re simple enough for the kids to get involved!
If you’re looking for a stunning dessert option for your next patriotic-themed event, these mini snow cone truffles will definitely be a huge hit. The bright sanding sugar is eye-catching and instantly adds fun decoration to your table.
Easily adapt these snow cone Oreo truffles by using different sandwich cookies and changing the color of the sanding sugar to suit your party theme or holiday celebration.
🍽 KEY INGREDIENTS
Cream cheese – Soften at room temperature for a smooth consistency in the truffle mixture.
Vanilla Oreos – Other vanilla sandwich cookies could be used instead.
Vanilla almond bark – I love using vanilla almond bark as you don’t need to add oil to the melted mixture for a smooth consistency.
Sanding sugar – I’ve used red, blue, and white sanding sugar – perfect for a patriotic-themed party!
Swaps
Cookies – Since these truffles are coated with melted almond bark and colored sanding sugar, feel free to use regular Oreo cookies instead of vanilla. Gluten-free Oreos can be used when catering to dietary needs.
Sanding sugar – The colored sanding sugar is a great way to add an easy pop of color to the truffles. You could also use red, blue, and white sprinkles or experiment with other colors of sanding sugar to make these truffles for a different holiday or themed party.
🥣 EQUIPMENT
You’ll need a food processor, hand mixer, parchment paper-lined tray, mixing bowls, flat paint brush, and disposable paper soufflé cups.
🔪 HOW TO MAKE
These snow cone Oreo truffles many look detailed to make, but in reality they’re incredibly easy and straightforward, especially if you follow my step-by-step instructions below with helpful images!
Preparations
Gather the ingredients and line your tray with parchment paper.
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Process the vanilla Oreos in a food processor to create fine crumbs and then add them to a medium bowl with the softened cream cheese. Beat until a wet dough forms.
Step 2
Form 1/2-inch balls from the dough mixture and place them onto the prepared tray. Place the tray into the freezer for 30-60 minutes to firm up.
Step 3
Remove the tray from the freezer and melt half of the almond bark in the microwave, stirring until completely melted.
Step 4
Use a fork to fully coat each ball in the melted almond bark, one at a time. Wipe the bottom of the fork clean from excess almond bark and then use another clean fork to place each coated ball onto the tray.
Step 5
Place the red, blue, and white sanding sugar in their own bowls. Add the other half of the almond bark to a new microwave-safe bowl and melt it in the microwave.
Use a small flat paint brush and dip it into the melted almond bark. Paint the one side of a truffle with the almond bark and then immediately dip that side of the truffle into the red sanding sugar. Repeat this process for the white sanding sugar middle section and then let it rest for 5-10 seconds to dry before adding more melted almond bark with blue sanding sugar on the opposite side of the truffle. Place the completed truffle on the tray and repeat this for all of the truffle balls.
Add the decorated truffles to individual paper cups to resemble adorable snow cones!
💭 COOKING TIPS
- If the snow cone Oreo truffles are slightly too big for the paper cups, carefully cut the paper cups open, just enough so that there is a little more room for the truffles to sit comfortably.
- It’s best to allow each color of sanding sugar to set before adding the next color.
- The melted almond bark dries quickly! Make sure to add your sprinkles immediately after painting each section.
- A full-proof way to ensure that the truffles fit in the paper cups is to first place a rolled truffle ball into a cup before proceeding with the rest of the recipe steps. You can then make any necessary size adjustments before coating and decorating the balls.

🙋 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
I’ve used regular vanilla Oreo cookies in this recipe, but gluten-free Oreos could be used instead.
No problem! You can also use white melting wafers. The melting wafers won’t require any oil for a smooth consistency, just like the almond bark.
The melted almond bark dries very quickly, so you need to work fast once you’ve painted a section of the coated truffles to ensure the sanding sugar sticks.
🧊 STORING AND ♨️ REHEATING
FRIDGE
Store leftover snow cone Oreo truffles in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days.
FREEZER
These snow cone Oreo truffles could also be stored in the freezer before coating in the melted almond bark and sanding sugar. Place them in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 3 months.
Thaw slightly in the fridge and then decorate them in freshly melted almond bark and decorative sanding sugar.

📋 RECIPE
Snow Cone Oreo Truffles
These Snowcone Oreo Truffles are not only absolutely delicious, but super adorable!! I can’t get over how perfect these turned out and how much they look like little bite sized snowcones. Such a fun and tasty dessert, and only 4 ingredients too! These are the perfect dessert to bring for a Fourth of July party!
Ingredients
- 8 oz of cream cheese (softened to room temp)
- 13 oz package of vanilla Oreos
- 24 oz package of vanilla almond bark
- 1/4 cup of red, white and blue sanding sugar (divided)
- (Optional) 1/2 oz disposable paper soufflé cups
Instructions
- Add the Oreos to a food processor and turn on until fine crumbs form, dump the crumbs into a medium sized bowl. Add the cream cheese and beat using a hand mixer until everything is mixed together and a wet dough forms.
- Form into 1/2 inch balls and place on a parchment paper lined tray. Once all formed place in the freezer for 30 minutes to 1 hour. Once they come out the freezer grab a small microwaveable bowl and add half the almond bark to it and microwave and stir until completely melted.
- Once melted, drop a ball into the almond bark and flip around using a fork until completely coated, scoop the ball up with the fork and then wipe the bottom of the fork off on the side of the bowl. Using another fork gently slide the ball back onto the parchment paper, making sure to have the end you wiped face down.
- In three separate bowls add white sprinkles to one bowl, red in another and blue in the last bowl. In a new microwave safe bowl add the other half of the almond bark and melt in the microwave.
- (I used a small flat paint brush for this next step, you can try using a small butter knife it will just be messy.) using a small paint brush dip it in the melted almond bark and paint the almond bark on the side of the ball, immediately dip in the red sprinkles. Then repeat, paint a line of the almond bark down the middle of the ball and then dip into the white sprinkles, let dry (takes about 5-10 seconds to hardened) then paint the last side of the ball and dip into the blue sprinkles and let sit back on the parchment paper.
- Repeat those steps to all the truffle balls until done. This extra step made them extra adorable, i used these little paper cups and just sat them in the cups to really make them look like snow cones. Enjoy!
