One of my favorite things about the holiday season is getting to be creative with recipes. I mean, why settle for regular cupcakes when you can make melting snowman cupcakes, right?!

When it comes to getting the kids involved, you ideally want something super easy and quick to make. Something that’ll add smiles to those little faces. Something that you can add your own creative flare to…something like these Snowman Truffles!

WHY OUR RECIPE

  • Easy no-bake holiday treats that you can whip up with the help of the kiddies.
  • Great for making a few days or weeks ahead of your holiday celebrations.
  • Modify these snowman truffles into other favorite Christmas characters with a few adjustments to your truffle decoration!

Get ready for Christmas-inspired truffles that taste like bounty bars (minus the chocolate) and will melt in your mouth!

You only need condensed milk and shredded coconut to make the truffle balls. After that, you get to have a ton of fun adding the colored melted chocolate, rainbow candy scarves, and pretzel stick arms to complete these festive snowman truffles.

INGREDIENT NOTES

Snowman truffle ingredients on a marble countertop.
  • Sweetened Condensed Milk – This binds the coconut truffles.
  • Shredded Coconut – Keep extra aside for rolling the balls into – it does a great job of resembling snow. You can use sweetened or unsweetened shredded coconut, depending on your preference.
  • White Chocolate – Use a brand of chocolate like melting wafers that are easy to melt. The melted chocolate is used to stick the snowman heads onto the larger balls.
  • Oil-Based Food Coloring – You’ll need black and orange food coloring. Use your favorite brand, as long as it is good quality. The food coloring is used to draw on the snowman truffle eyes, nose, and buttons.
  • Rainbow Sour Strap Candy – These make the perfect scarfs for snowman truffles!
  • Pretzel Sticks – These need to be the thin variety so that they insert easily into the snowman body and look to be in proportion to the size of the assembled snowman truffle.

ASSEMBLING TIPS AND TRICKS

Keep your hands damp when rolling the truffle balls to help prevent the mixture from sticking to your hands.

Think of the melted chocolate as glue when assembling these snowman truffles. You can easily add more if you have difficulty in sticking the balls together or the scarves.

Make sure you make an equal amount of larger truffle balls and smaller truffle balls. Use a larger and smaller cookie scoop or spoons to create uniform-sized snowman truffles.

A good way to ensure that your truffle balls don’t fall apart is to try and make them as compact as possible when shaping them.

Change up the flavor of your snowman truffles by mixing in some vanilla extract, peppermint extract, or lemon zest.

FEELING A LITTLE MORE CREATIVE?!

Once the creative juices are flowing, there’s no end to the decorating possibilities for these adorable snowman truffles. Here are some additional fun ways to decorate these holiday treats:

  • Stick the assembled snowman truffles on their own cookie base. Sugar cookies, gingersnap cookies, or store-bought cookies with a flat surface would be great!
  • Add large or mini marshmallows to the top of your snowman truffles for cute hats.
  • Dip the truffle balls in melted white chocolate and then sprinkle shredded coconut over for added flavor and decadence, or leave the shredded coconut off entirely if you coat these truffles in chocolate.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

CAN I MAKE OTHER CHRISTMAS CHARACTERS WITH THIS RECIPE?

Absolutely! Make Santa Claus truffles or even reindeer truffles using this recipe. You can adjust the food coloring and edible decorations to suit your alternate Christmas characters.

HOW MANY SNOWMAN TRUFFLES DOES THIS RECIPE MAKE?

This recipe should make 5 assembled snowman truffles, but it could vary if you make larger or smaller truffle balls from what I have. Make the snowman truffles smaller in size to create more or make them larger which will create fewer. You can also easily double the recipe when serving to a larger crowd.

CAN I MAKE DAIRY-FREE SNOWMAN TRUFFLES?

You bet! Simply swap regular sweetened condensed milk with canned dairy-free condensed milk and make sure that the white chocolate is also dairy-free.
