Kiwi Prosecco Popsicles
These Kiwi Prosecco Popsicles are fruity and boozy and just what every summer party needs to liven up the fun! Keep in mind though that these popsicles are JUST FOR ADULTS.
It’s summertime, and that means one thing: popsicles. But instead of the traditional lemonade or strawberry flavors you might be used to, why not try a new flavor? Kiwi Prosecco Popsicles are a perfect way to stay cool this summer without sacrificing taste. They’re made with real kiwis and prosecco wine for an extra fruity kick! These delicious treats won’t break your diet either. What more could you ask for in a dessert?
When I am making these adult popsicles for a party with friends, I know that I also have to whip up a batch of kid friendly popsicles for Angela. So, I leave out the Prosecco and just use kiwi and the simple syrup to make her a booze free treat. She still thinks she’s getting the same popsicles as the adults so it’s a win win.
What is a simple syrup?
A simple syrup is a solution of sugar and water. This solution is very sweet. Typically to make a simple syrup you will use granulated or powdered sugar.
Can I use frozen kiwi in these Prosecco popsicles?
You can, but unless you plan on using it right away, I would not recommend it. Frozen fruit tends to break down chemically and the cellular structure of the kiwi will turn to mush as opposed to a nice firm texture that you want in your popsicles.
What is simple syrup used for?
Simple Syrup is used as an ingredient in cocktail making. It provides sweetening and can help make a cocktail more palatable, especially if it has an acid or bitter taste. For example, Gin & Tonic. If you were to use plain water instead of simple syrup with your tonic, the drink would end up tasting too bitter.
Simple syrup can also be used in baking or in making gelato. The main point of using simple syrup is to provide a sweet liquid that has been dissolved into another product that already contains some water or alcohol.
How do I slice a fresh kiwi?
Slice the kiwi into sections by slicing lengthwise and then cutting those pieces in half. The result will be a bunch of little wedge-shaped slices of kiwi. The kiwi fruit is getting macerated, so you don’t have to be too careful or wonder if it’s the right shape.
How can I tell if a kiwi is ripe?
If the kiwi is light green it is under-ripe. If it’s more yellow, that’s a good sign. Also, if you push your finger into the skin of the kiwi and see a little indentation, it should be ripe.
When is Kiwi in season
Kiwis are in season from May to October. Kiwi is a tropical fruit. And does not have to be refrigerated. If your kiwi is not ripe yet, leave it on the counter and give it an additional day or two to ripen.
Can I use a popsicle mold for these Kiwi Prosecco Popsicles instead
Yes you can. I typically use the popsicle tubes like I have shown in the images to make my popsicles. But, you can also use popsicle molds. As a side note though, using a mold will require a longer freezing time. Here are the molds I use: Zipsicle Ice Pop Pouches.
How long can I store these in the freezer?
The popsicles will keep for up to 2 months in the freezer. The alcohol in the Prosecco will not freeze and also helps delay that process as well.
Can I use Champagne instead of Prosecco?
Yes you can, but it won’t be called a Kiwi Prosecco Pop if you do. Using Champagne instead of Prosecco will not change the flavor at all, it would just be a different color and maybe a little bit less alcohol.
