WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT NUTELLA WHIPPED ICING

Nutella Whipped Icing is a creamy icing, infused with rich chocolate and hazelnut flavor from the addition of Nutella. It’s a versatile icing that can be used as a topping, a spread, or a filling!

HOW SHOULD I STORE NUTELLA WHIPPED ICING

Nutella whipped icing must be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container since it contains dairy-based ingredients which could spoil when left out at room temperature for extended periods of time.

The store Nutella whipped icing should last for up to 1 week in the fridge if stored properly.

It’s normal for the stored Nutella whipped icing to dry out slightly. If this happens, mix extra heavy cream into the icing and stir to combine.

HOW CAN I USE NUTELLA WHIPPED ICING?

This Nutella Whipped Icing can be used to frost cakes and cupcakes, to spread over toast and bagels, to enjoy as a delicious dip alongside your favorite sweet crackers, to fill macarons and pastries, to create sandwich cookies, or to serve with ice cream!

There really are endless ways that you could enjoy this Nutella icing!

CAN YOU MIX COOL WHIP AND NUTELLA?

Yes, you can. The Cool Whip would replace the whipped cream and would be a delicious substitute.

CAN YOU PIPE THIS NUTELLA-WHIPPED ICING?

Absolutely! Whipped icing can be piped but depending on the consistency at the time of the piping, the piped icing may not hold its form. If you find that the whipped icing is too soft or runny for piping, chill it in the fridge for a few minutes before piping or add powdered sugar to thicken it.

WHAT FLAVORS GO BEST WITH NUTELLA?

The chocolate and hazelnut flavor of Nutella spread pairs beautifully with vanilla, chocolate, coffee, banana, strawberry, and cinnamon. Consider using this Nutella Whipped Icing to garnish baked treats, such as cakes and cupcakes, that have these flavor profiles!

TIPS FOR MAKING NUTELLA WHIPPED ICING

  • For a creamier texture, allow the heavy cream to reach room temperature before combining with the rest of the ingredients.
  • Powdered sugar can be used instead of the granulated sugar, especially if you want to avoid any grainy texture. Keep in mind that powdered sugar will make the whipped topping much sweeter and can also absorb a lot of moisture, in which case you can add in extra cream or even milk.
  • Chilling the icing before use is not necessary but a good idea if you intend to style the icing through piping techniques so that it keeps its form.
  • For a boozy version of this icing, add a small amount of your favorite liquor to the icing. Kahlua, Baileys Irish Cream, or Amaretto are all great options!
