Classic Sugar Cookie Recipe

Sugar cookies are a timeless & classic cookie! Everyone has always made their own rendition, but they always come back to the most classic & basic recipe to build upon! Sugar cookies are one of those things that people always associate with Christmas. Now, don’t get me wrong…I LOVE me some Christmas, but I do enjoy home baked cookies…and these are on top of my list of favorites.

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter at room temperature
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp vanilla (i usually put a little bit more for taste =] )
  • 1 egg

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375
Take out the butter from the fridge for about 30 minutes to get to room temperature. Add all dry ingredients into a small mixing bowl
cream sugar and butter together in large mixing bowl. Once thoroughly creamed together, add in the egg and vanilla and mix till blended.
Slowly add dry ingredients to the wet and mix till well combined. Once combined pinch off dough (a generous pinch),Roll in hands and then press down softly on to baking pan. Set about an inch apart. Bake for 8-10 minutes or till golden on top. If you like your cookies softer, bake 7-8 minutes or till you just notice a small color change. Remove and set on cooling rack
