Taco Bell Brings a Global Favorite to the U.S. for the First Time: Don’t Miss Out
Taco Bell has spent the last week putting its international menu in the hands of its U.S. fans. For the first time, Rewards Members were invited to vote on which global favorite should make its stateside debut, and the results are finally in as of April 2, 2026.
The competition was fierce between Thailand’s Kickin’ Chicken and India’s Butter Chicken, but the latter secured nearly 65% of the total vote. This “Desi-inspired” fusion is now slated to hit U.S. menus nationwide later this year as a highly anticipated limited-time offering.
The Butter Chicken Taco Profile

Originating from Taco Bell India's “Desi Menu” in 2023, the winning Butter Chicken Taco features shredded, slow-roasted chicken simmered in a rich tomato-cream sauce. The sauce is infused with authentic bold spices, providing a deep, savory flavor profile unique to the U.S. market.
To maintain that signature crunch, the chicken is served inside a fried chalupa shell and topped with fresh onion, cilantro, lettuce, and cheddar cheese. It is a true global fusion dish that captures the “Butter Chicken” essence while staying true to the Taco Bell format fans love.
A Victory for “Global Fusion”

The 2026 Global Taco Vote highlights a major shift in consumer preferences toward bolder, international flavor profiles. Thailand’s contender the Kickin’ Chicken Taco featured crispy chicken and a specialized “Spicy Kickin' Sauce,” but it couldn't quite overtake the “comfort food” appeal of the Indian classic.
Taco Bell leadership noted that this generation of diners is “all about fusion.” By letting fans choose, the brand is successfully bridging the gap between its international creative kitchens and its domestic audience, turning global hits into local social media events.
Spring 2026 Chicken Expansion

While the Butter Chicken Taco prepares for its later arrival, Taco Bell is keeping April busy with the expansion of its Cantina Chicken lineup. As of late March, the Cantina Chicken Rolled Quesadilla has officially joined the permanent menu nationwide.
This new permanent addition features slow-roasted chicken layered with a three-cheese blend and creamy chipotle sauce. It is specifically designed for the “on-the-go” snacking trend of 2026, serving as a more sophisticated, protein-heavy alternative to traditional value-menu items.
The $9 Discovery Luxe Box

To celebrate these spring innovations, Taco Bell has launched the $9 Discovery Luxe Cravings Box. This 2026 value play includes the all-new Crispy Chicken Crunchwrap Slider, which uses tortilla-chip-coated chicken nuggets in a snackable, portable format.
The box also bundles fan favorites like the Cheesy Gordita Crunch and Nacho Cheese Doritos Locos Tacos, providing a high-value entry point for fans wanting to try the new chicken tech. As we move further into April, this box is expected to be the top-selling item for both lunch and late-night “Dew-fueled” snack runs.
