WHY THIS LEPRECHAUN TOAST
- This adorable St Patrick's recipe only requires 6 ingredients and can easily be doubled or tripled when serving a larger crowd.
- Kids absolutely adore this leprechaun toast! It's the perfect food activity to do with them during the holiday and to refine those fine motor skills.
- The simplicity of this treat allows you to easily add your own twist to it. Recreate this recipe by using pancakes as the base instead of toast or edible gold glitter instead of the sprinkles.

But don't be fooled, this is not just a treat for the kids! Adults seem to love it just as much!
INGREDIENT NOTES
- Bread – Use sliced white or wheat bread, depending on your preferences. Gluten-free bread is also great, especially if catering to sensitivities.
- Cream cheese – Allow the cream cheese to soften at room temperature so that it mixes into a smooth consistency, free of lumps. Store-bought whipped cream cheese is a good substitute and will save you some time.
- Honey – Use what you have at home or your favorite brand. Maple syrup could be used instead.
- Charms cereal – The key ingredient for this Leprechaun toast! Lucky Charms cereal can be found in the cereal aisle in most stores or online.
- Green food coloring – Use a high-quality green food coloring and adjust the amount depending on the brightness of the color desired.
- Decoration – I've used gold sprinkles, but you could also use decorating sugar, or a mix of both.
LEPRECHAUN TOAST TIPS FOR SUCCESS!
If you've never made leprechaun toast before, here are just a few of my top tips that will ensure the best results:
- Make sure that you allow the toasted slices of bread to cool before spreading the cream cheese mixture over.
- If you've forgotten to leave your block of cream cheese out to soften and are rushed for time, remove the amount required from the wrapper and place it on a microwave-safe dish. Heat it uncovered on High for about 15 seconds, or until it is just softened.
- If you want to save a little time in preparing the leprechaun toast, make the green colored cream cheese mixture a day in advance and store it in the fridge in an airtight container so that it won't absorb any odors from the fridge. Don't assemble the toast until just before serving!
STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS
- Refrigeration: Store leftover colored cream cheese mixture in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week or a little longer. Give it a good mix before using again. I don't recommend storing the assembled leprechaun toast in the fridge as the toast will turn soggy and the toppings will turn stale and bleed their color.
