Is Your Name Mike? Firehouse Subs is Giving Away Free Steak & Cheese Melts to Every ‘Michael’ and ‘Michelle’ in America
In one of the most specific (and generous) marketing stunts of the 2026 season, Firehouse Subs is celebrating its namesake. By proclamation of Firehouse Subs President Mike Hancock, the chain is inviting every “Mike” in America to try their new Steak & Cheese Melt for free.
On Wednesday, May 6, 2026, any guest with a qualifying name can walk into a participating U.S. Firehouse Subs and walk out with a medium sub—no purchase necessary.
Who Qualifies?
Firehouse is casting a wide net for the “Mike” family. If your legal name is any of the following, you’re in luck:
- Mike, Michael, Mikey, or Miguel
- Michelle, Michele, or Michaela
The Requirement: You must present a valid government-issued photo ID at the time of redemption to prove your “Mike-ness.”
The Sub: A Prime Rib Powerhouse
The star of the show is the new Steak & Cheese Melt, which Firehouse is positioning as its best steak sub to date.
- The Build: It features USDA Choice prime rib, flame-seared and piled high with melted provolone cheese.
- The Toppings: It’s finished with brown sugar caramelized onions and a mix of red and green bell peppers.
- The Bread: Served on the brand’s signature toasted top-cut roll.
- The Punch: A medium-sized sub packs a substantial 42 grams of protein.
Why the Giveaway?
“We’re proud of this sub—the prime rib, the caramelized onions, the top-cut roll. Once people try it, we think it earns its place among the best steak subs out there,” said President Mike Hancock. “Sharing it with every Mike in America felt like a great way to kick things off.”
More Than Just a Sandwich
As with all orders at Firehouse Subs, a portion of the proceeds (even for the free ones) helps support the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation®. To date, the foundation has awarded over $107 million to first responders across North America, providing life-saving equipment like thermal imaging cameras and automatic external defibrillators (AEDs).
How to Get Yours
- Mark your calendar: Wednesday, May 6.
- Find a location: Visit firehousesubs.com to find your nearest restaurant (there are several in the Bucks County/Philadelphia area, including Bensalem and Langhorne).
- Bring your ID: You’ll need it to verify your name at the counter.
- Enjoy: Limit one free sub per qualifying guest.
The Verdict: If you’ve got a “Mike” in your household, next Wednesday’s lunch is officially taken care of. For everyone else, it’s still worth a visit to try what Firehouse is calling their “best sub yet”—and to support a brand that gives back to local firefighters and EMTs.
