Ingredients
- 24 pretzel snaps
- 12 Rolo chocolates unwrapped
- 12 Hershey’s Hugs unwrapped
- 12 large candy eyes
- 24 small candy eyes
Equipment
- Baking sheet
- Parchment Paper
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 250°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Arrange the pretzels in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between them.
- Top 12 pretzels with one Rolo each. Top the remaining 12 pretzels with one Hershey’s Hug each.
- Bake for 3 minutes, just until the chocolates soften. They should yield under gentle pressure but should not be fully melted or spreading into puddles.
- Remove the baking sheet from the oven. While the chocolates are soft, place one large candy eye on each Rolo and two small candy eyes on each Hug. Press gently so the eyes stick without flattening the chocolates.
- For an optional cracked monster effect, press the large eyes slightly farther into the Rolos so a little caramel peeks through the chocolate shell.
- Let the bites set on the baking sheet for about 30 minutes, or until the chocolate and caramel are firm. Alternatively, refrigerate for about 15 minutes, until set. Allow the bites to firm completely before serving, stacking, or packaging.

Notes
- Avoid overheating: The chocolates may hold their shape even when softened. Test with a candy eye before adding more oven time.
- Pretzel options: Mini twists or round pretzels can replace the snaps.
- Chocolate swaps: Other Rolo or Hershey’s Kiss varieties may soften at different rates.
- Storage: Store fully set pretzel bites in an airtight container in a cool, dry place, with parchment between layers.
- Larger batches: Repeat with another baking sheet, decorating one tray at a time.
