Ingredients
- 9 bone-in beef back ribs about 4 pounds
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons onion powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/2 cup beef broth or water
- 18 oz bottle BBQ sauce divided
Instructions
- Pat ribs dry with a paper towel and season all over with smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. (If the ribs came in a rack, slice into smaller or individual pieces so it will fit in the crockpot.)
- Place the ribs into the crockpot. Pour the beef broth over the ribs and top it with half of the BBQ sauce. Reserve the remaining half of the sauce for basting.
- Cover with lid and cook for 7-8 hours on low, or until the meat is very tender.
- Preheat the oven broiler and line a baking sheet with foil. Transfer the cooked ribs onto the prepared baking sheet and brush each of the ribs with the remaining BBQ sauce. Broil for 3-5 minutes on HIGH, or until the sauce begins to caramelize and thicken.

Pro Tips for the Best Beef Ribs
- Season the night before if you can: Rub the ribs, cover them, and let them sit in the fridge overnight. The salt has time to work into the meat and the flavor goes deeper.
- Don't crowd the crockpot: If the ribs are packed in tight, cut them smaller so the heat and sauce reach every piece evenly.
- Baste in layers under the broiler: For extra sticky ribs, brush on one coat, broil a minute, then brush on another and finish. Each layer builds more glaze.
