Ingredients

For Cake
  • 1 3/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter softened at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 3 eggs at room temperature
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp salt
For Frosting
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened at room temperature
  • 1/4 cup sour cream at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
For Garnish
  • Fig slices
  • Orange zest

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (176 C) and line a standard-sized loaf pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine all dry ingredients: flour, sugar, baking powder, and spices.
  3. In another bowl combine wet ingredients: butter, sour cream, vanilla extract, orange juice, and eggs.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into a bowl with the dry ingredients and stir everything well until combined and you have a thick batter.
  5. Spoon the batter into your prepared tin. Smooth the surface and bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes or until browned and a skewer or toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. As it bakes, prepare the frosting. In a bowl mix cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, sour cream, with a handstand blender until smooth.
  7. Remove the loaf from the oven and let it cool for about 1 hour.
  8. Spread the frosting on top using a spatula. You may have some left over.
  9. Garnish with fresh fig slices and orange zest.
