Kickin’ Spodee Berry Spritz Recipe

If you’re like me, you’re always looking for a way to beat the heat with an adult cocktail. Summer time calls for something just a little be lighter, a bit fruity, and even a little bubbly. The combination of all three just makes a perfect combination of a Summer Cocktail. A company called Spodee has actually challenged me to create a cool and unique cocktail in using their new line of moonshine fortified wine. You know me! I’m always up for a great challenge. Now, here’s a little known fact that I know you’ll enjoy: Spodee was actually known to be a hooch (from the Great Depression era) of a mixture of garden herbs, fruits, moonshine, and a lot of different secret handshakes, passwords, knocks, and even a wink! In this case, a wink wasn’t defined as flirting with someone. It meant that you need some yummy alcohol!

First and foremost, I recommend drinking the White Spodee chilled…if you’re just going to drink it plain. Which is absolutely fine! When you start sipping on it, you’re going to notice hints of pineapple, coconut, and amaretto flavors across your palate. None of the flavors are overwhelming at all. It’s a perfectly little balanced beverage. After tasting it, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it! I immediately ran to my fridge and pulled out some fresh blueberries, strawberries, and then went to the store to grab a small bottle of Sprite.

I was so not disappointed at all! It was freaking delicious! Holy kickin’ mules! The resulting mixture of everything is great for an afternoon cool off session from the heat. Not that I should be having a cocktail for lunch, but I’m telling you this right now…it’s a PERFECT cocktail to enjoy during brunch or a late lunch. Here’s how you can make your own! If you’re not too sure if there is a store near you that carries this product, then you can always check on their website!

Here’s what you need:

2 Strawberries (diced) and 1 to Garnish

12 blueberries

Spodee White

Sprite

In a small cocktail glass (also called a High Ball), muddle your berries together (minus the garnishment strawberry) until well mixed. Add 5 to 6 ice cubes. Fill the glass 3/4’s of the way of the Spodee White, then top off the rest with sprite, mix well with a spoon, and then add your strawberry Garnishment. Enjoy!
